Bigger in Belfast
Filed Under Belfast Property News, Blogroll by admin | Leave a Comment
As you may have already noted, our expansion into Belfast in Northern Ireland has been quietly gaining momentum over the past year or so. Our growth has precipitated the appointment of Mark Crossey as our new Business Development Manager for the region. A Belfast resident with a background in property development, Mark is ideally placed to manage our plans for the province.
The rental market is continuing to thrive in Belfast due to substantial price hikes in house sales in recent years, making renting a flat an ever more competitive alternative. Demand for rental units is high and already Citylets is becoming a major route to market after just one year.
Mark is more than happy to introduce Citylets to letting agents in the area – he said, “Advertising choice for rental agents in Northern Ireland has been limited over the years but now Citylets has arrived on the scene. It’s clear that the market in Scotland has been diverse and competitive – the product I’ve been asked to deliver here is well above what local agents are used to.”
We have been targeting the top letting agents in Belfast to try our property advertising, and we are proud to welcome the following agents:
Braemore (Belfast)
141 Lettings
Daniel McGeown & Co
Flat Rentals
BTW Shiells
Gerry O’Connor
Belvoir Lettings (East Belfast)
Belvoir Lettings (South Belfast)

Citylets supports Shelter Scotland
Filed Under Blogroll by admin | Leave a Comment
We are delighted to announce that we have hooked up with Shelter Scotland to raise money for the top housing and homeless charity. A small fee from each property listed will now be donated to the charity – meaning Shelter is set to benefit from a guaranteed £5000 donation over the coming year.
Over 25,000 properties are advertised through our network each year and we are proud to be making an association with the charity. Thomas Ashdown, our MD, said that, “Being in property, Shelter is a natural choice for us and the organisation is well known to many of our clients who deal with the charity on a regular basis.”
Archie Stoddart, Director of Shelter Scotland said, “We are pleased that Citylets have chosen to raise money for Shelter Scotland. Our housing aid centres and families projects across the country offer support and advice to people who are homeless or badly housed and the money raised will help us to continue this work.”

Let the battle commence

As you may have seen on the news recently, CricketScotland announced a first – Monday 18th August 2008 sees the first time Scotland has played against the full England team in an ICC One-Day International cricket match. The last time Scotland played England was back in the early 19th century.
The game will be held at the Citylets Grange in Stockbridge in Edinburgh, and promises to be a sell-out, with over 6000 spectators expected. Due to the capacity of the ground and the strength of the corporate hospitality market in the city of Edinburgh, The Citylets Grange was chosen as the appropriate venue for the event, a decision made in consultation with CricketScotland’s partners, sponsors and supporters. Tickets will be on sale early next year – a significant number have already been sold to the corporate sector.
Thomas Ashdown, our MD, said that, “A clash between Scotland and England means the build up for the game has already started. Perhaps we will even be able to persuade those not usually interested in cricket to come along for a good day out.”
We look forward to seeing you there!

CricketScotland close of season
Filed Under Cricket by admin | Leave a Comment
The cricket season drew to a close this quarter, with a final One Day International match at Citylets Titwood in Glasgow. A rain spattered day saw CricketScotland beaten by India by seven wickets with Scotland posting 203 for nine in 46 overs while India triumphed with 212 for 3.
This game made history as it was the first Scotland match outside of the Cricket World Cup to be televised at screens across the nation and Asian subcontinent. The home team continued to impress as they scored the same against India as they recorded against Pakistan last summer in 4 fewer overs. The sell-out game at the Clydesdale Cricket ground drew a crowd of nearly 3000 spectators and was enjoyed by the large Indian community in Glasgow. Ryan Watson, the captain of the Scottish team reckoned his team scored a “competitive total” against the top-five country and complimented the Indian side on their “class batsmen.”
Thomas Ashdown, Citylets Managing Director, was delighted to present the Citylets Lifetime Achievement Award to John Gray, secretary for the Shetland Cricket Association in the lunch time break. Thomas announced that Citylets were, “delighted to be involved in sponsoring CricketScotland during this important period of their development.”

Edinburgh named Best Place to Live in the UK
Filed Under Edinburgh Property News by admin | Leave a Comment
Channel 4’s TV programme Location, Location, Location recently named Edinburgh as the top place to live in the UK.
Kirsty Allsop and Phil Spencer, the show’s presenters, scored Edinburgh highly in all six of their categories – where they judged each city on features such as house prices, crime stats, architecture, public transport, etc. Edinburgh was favoured for its high concentration of museums and galleries (more in Edinburgh than any other local authority) and the high number of listed buildings in the city. Its sheer beauty and lifestyle also contributed to Edinburgh
coming out on top. With only 1.9% of the population receiving job seekers benefits, it also means that Edinburgh has a high percentage of workers in highly-paid professional occupations. In terms of house prices, yes it is on the pricey side, with the average Edinburgh home priced at over £200,000 but that’s still half the price of London – not bad for a Capital city.
What do you think? Did Kirsty and Phil get it right?
